FAQs
The nasal letter, known as Naak-Honna, is a fundamental part of the Rohingya language. It represents a nasal sound produced through the nose without using the mouth. This character is essential in both reading and writing, as it is written and pronounced entirely through the nasal passage. The purpose of creating the Rohingya Translator was to help new generations of Rohingya speakers—many of whom struggle to read or understand their own language—access translation and learning tools. The project was launched with a minimal budget of only 26 SAR for the domain, while facing challenges such as the lack of dedicated Urdu or Hanifi keyboards for modern typing. For more details, see the Naak-Honna article.
The platform provides comprehensive translation capabilities with over 70,000 translated words and around 3,000 sample sentences. This gives users broad access to accurate and practical Arabic–Rohingya translations for different communication needs. The translations were carefully prepared, initially using spreadsheets and manual input, with continuous updates to improve quality and coverage. For more details, visit the About Us page. Please note that around 10% of the content has been translated into Arabic and may include minor errors, which are being refined step by step.
